**Khalchian:** During an event organized by Guru Teg Bahadur Asra Seva Trust, Khalchian, the village’s kabaddi team that emerged victorious in the tournament was honored with sports kits. The players delivered an outstanding performance and brought pride to their village.
On this occasion, as part of its regular monthly initiative, the Trust also distributed free ration and essential kitchen supplies to needy families, widows, and underprivileged households.
Special guests present at the event included Madam Kanwaljeet Kaur, Reader to the SDM of Sri Baba Bakala Sahib, Dr. Jaswinder Kaur, and retired Chief Engineer Kuldeep Singh. While interacting with the media, Madam Kanwaljeet Kaur said that every individual should contribute a portion of their earnings to help the needy, as it strengthens social harmony and brotherhood.
Trust Chairman Swarnjeet Singh Sandhu stated that the distribution of free ration to needy families will continue every month. Encouraging the winning girls’ kabaddi team, he added that next time they will also be awarded cash prizes along with sports kits.
He further said that the Trust’s mission will continue from the village streets to the playgrounds, with the aim of nurturing future talented players from the younger generation. He emphasized that encouraging youth to participate in sports is the need of the hour to keep them away from drugs, and everyone should contribute to this cause.
